Welcome to Bebop Value

Bebop Value is a substack where I post all my analyses and write-ups on public companies.

What you will get:

  • At least two deep-dive analyses/write-ups on companies I’m working on each month. My goal is to maximise the value of each analysis by providing deep-dive level quality while avoiding unnecessary fluff and keeping each 10-15 pages long. Each publication is the actual work I write for myself and during my own investment process before sharing it here.

  • The first 7 days are free so that you can see whether you like my work and would like to support it.

  • Each analysis dives deep into the business fundamentals, the company’s market and competitors, moats, management, risks and opportunities, valuation and my portfolio updates.

  • I tend to focus on micro caps in Europe where I’m based, but may look at other similar opportunities in cheap markets like Japan.

Who am I?

My name is Paul and I have been investing my own, my family’s and friends’ money for just over 4 years now. I am based in the UK and doing an undergraduate degree in Accounting & Finance.

I look for great companies (moat + management) that I can buy at 50% or less of their intrinsic value. The quality is important to me but I will never compromise on the margin of safety. I follow a few other “iron rules” like bottom-up research and absolute return focus. Despite zealous adherence to my framework, my strategy remains flexible and as long as the company is in my circle of competence (I can understand it) it may end up in my portfolio.

My goal is to keep it simple. You are highly unlikely to see me buy a complex technology company. I would be more likely to own tangible companies I can understand like retailers, food franchises, consumer brands, etc.

I decided to start publishing all my research and analytical work on Substack to a) provide value to the community (the level of that value is up for you to decide), b) create a small source of income in return that would help me spend more time on my investing, which is my passion and future career of choice, and c) to make myself more disciplined and accountable as what I publish is my personal work when managing my and my family’s and friends’ money.

Why should you subscribe?

As I mentioned earlier, the first 7 days are going to be fully free so that you can decide whether it is worth your 2.5 bucks. The subscription costs $5 per month or $50 per year, which means that you get one deep dive for $2.5 every two weeks. Those 5 dollars would help this Uni student a lot, however, it is up to you to decide whether it is actually worth it.
